My Approach
Counselling
Because all of us are unique, it is important for me to work with each client based on their personal needs. I want to tailor counselling to suit you. However, I do draw from a variety of counselling approaches and tools. Some of these include Emotion Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
Trauma Informed Practice
Being a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) means that I am very mindful of being trauma informed or trauma sensitive in my approach. Essentially, this type of practice is grounded in a strengths-based framework that acknowledges the impact of trauma on our responses. It is important to note that not all trauma that happens results in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We can experience trauma from highly distressing events as well.
